What’s up, friends? I am pumped about TEDx St. John’s event: HOPE DECONSTRUCTED — comin’ on strong, Saturday, June 2nd! What does it even mean to deconstruct hope?
I can hardly wrap my head around the idea because it can go in so many different provocative directions – especially as it pertains to our identity as Newfoundland and Labradorians. From deconstructing what hope really means to the actual deconstruction of having hopes and aspirations at all — so much to think about here! I love it! About TEDx
We all know the story. TEDx is a worldwide phenomenon where speakers from all over come together as one to present ideas that are worth sharing. These are the big ideas I love — ones with legs!
This organization has been on the go since 1984 and has been completely LIT over the past few years, gaining incredible momentum and popularity. TEDx shows, Talks, and Conferences are held worldwide and let a variety of amazing and inspiring people come out to do just that — amaze and inspire us all.
And here in St. John’s…
This year’s TEDx guest speakers are a group of passionate people who are willing to share their own personal stories of ups, downs, failures, successes, and of course their perception of HOPE. The speakers include: Adam Keating, Hasan Hai, Kimberly Churchill, Kimberly Orren, Malcolm Hollett, and Samantha Phelan. All will have something individual and raw to throw at us, and I for one can’t wait.
Spreadin’ that hope
We’ve partnered with TEDx St. John’s for several years now and we continue to be blown away by the individuals who loan their voices for this night of real talk and celebration.
I hosted the TEDx St. John’s events in 2014 and 2015, and it was an amazing experience to not only get to be a part of such an important and provocative project, but also to be able to witness these absolutely amazing people first-hand and hear their inspiring stories.
I have no doubt in my mind that the six awesome guests will absolutely ROCK IT this year! And I’ll know firsthand since … drum roll please … I’m this year’s host, too!
