Dc presents: #RegattaLove2017

It’s that time of year again! The rowers are ready, the dunk tank is filled, and the banks of Quidi Vidi are primed for booths, beer tents, and boisterous celebration of a kind that can only accompany the Royal St. John’s Regatta. Are you stoked, or what?

WHY WE LOVE IT

There’s a lot to celebrate when it comes to the oldest annual sporting event in North America, and I’m not just talking about a day free from work. The Regatta is a proud tradition that showcases not only the heart of St. John’s, but also the brilliant relationship between our place and our people: seriously, where else does the weather dictate a municipal holiday? It’s this spirit and sense of community that makes us proud to be a sponsor of St. John’s’ favorite summer bash.

TEAMIN’ UP

This year, we’re excited to once again be involved with the Regatta committee and oh-so-proud to be designing their booklet and helping their website stop crashing. Chocked-full of amazing people and sponsors who come together each year to cheer on a lake’s worth of talent, this booklet showcases the best of the best. Make sure you grab your copy! I’m most excited to be hanging medals on necks of the winning Ladies crew as we sponsor that race every year as well as following that race in that speed boat you see on the pond. Fancy times, b’ys.

GOOD TIMES AHEAD

Now I don’t want to get ahead of my myself, but come on, I can’t not mention next year’s regatta. You might be wondering, “Why, Don-E? Sure, that’s forever and a day away.” Well let me tell ya – next year’s the big one.

I’m talking 200 years of the Royal St. John’s Regatta. That’s 200 years of fun and finish-lines. Excited much? Oh yossss. It’s easy to get caught up in the craziness, but as this century-spanning event nears, it’s important to pause and think about what makes you say, “I love you, RSJR!” For me, it’s celebrating the hard-working folks who pull the day off, waiting for the infamous “it’s-a-go” call, and eating piles of Indian food on the banks of the Quidi Vidi. Whatever it is that brings you to the lake, we’re sure it will be there in spades next August for year 200!

But for now, St. John’s, we’ll simply enjoy this year’s Regatta as we longingly look forward to next year’s. See you at the lake, weather depending!

Looking forward,

Dc
