They’re taking over this town, and we’re here for it! MusicNL’s Awards and Conference Week kicks off October 11-15, and this year is bigger than ever. Why’s that you ask? It’s MusicNL’s 25th anniversary! TWO-FIVE! That’s 25 years of support and encouragement, raw, local talent, and crazy dedication to this province’s musical past, present, and future.
The musical mandate
MusicNL exists to support artists involved with provincially produced, stimulate the growth and export of our province’s deadly music industry, and promote this scene as a viable industry with significant cultural and economic impact. This mission has been enacted over the past TWO AND A HALF DECADES, and I couldn’t be more proud to be involved.
Still strumming
I first became a MusicNL member at age 23, all starry-eyed and crazy in love, and since then, I’ve helped found and judge the Newfound Talent Contest, worked with the organization’s ever-evolving all-star-staff and dedicated board on brand expression, and helped launch last year’s brand refresh … and then there’s this year’s anniversary celebrations. How sweet it be! Contributing to this community continues to be some of my favourite, most meaningful, music-loving work each year.
A silver anniversary
To celebrate the past 25 years, MusicNL is looking forward: how better to ensure the longevity of this organization, its members, and Newfoundland and Labrador’s music industry than to go BIG for it?
This year, Getting Ready for the World Stage is the cornerstone of MusicNL Conference and Awards Week with workshops designed to enhance the export readiness of our province’s artists. They’re focusing on songwriting, touring, stage presence, and, our jam, social media. It’s gonna be deadly!
Times galore
Awards and Conference Week 2017 will also feature fan favourite events like the Newfound Talent Contest, the Songwriters’ Circle, and of course, the MusicNL Award Show. This year’s awards show, at the St. John’s Convention Centre, is hosted by none other than Petty Harbour’s own Alan Doyle. Who better to celebrate this province’s musical legacy and oh-so-promising future? Check out the full schedule of events and grab your tickets now!
To all the nominated artists and industry builders, thank you for working tirelessly to make music happen. In fact … I’ll be putting off my own bootcamp-style hour-of-power for the artists to get their brand spirit AWN!!!!
To my cherished friends, partners, and volunteers at MusicNL, we can’t friggin’ wait for this year’s Conference and Awards Week! With local artist showcases, packed clubs, national delegates, and alllll the times and alllll the songs, in the words of Simani, you’re making the world seem bright! So see you there?
Looking forward,
Dc
