LET’S RECAP
For many years, the Cup of Cheer has been providing great opportunities for those who could use a little extra help to get their message out there. My networks would vote from several local causes; we’d pick the most-voted and work our magic from there. We have helped many amazing organizations over the years and we continue to do so.
MORE TO CHEER ABOUT
With the challenges that so many continue to face everyday, be it anxiety, uncertainty, or depressed feelings, I knew that people needed support. As a result, the 2021 Cup of Cheer campaign had partnered with It’s Mental to provide funding for 25 local individuals to receive Mental Health First Aid Training with Alison Butler Consulting!
MORE ON IT’S MENTAL
As you already know, It’s Mental is a grassroots mental health organization that I co-founded with Juno award-winning singer songwriter Amelia Curran several years ago with help from many amazing people along the way. This organization strives to fund knowledge in our communities so that we can continue to support each other in all ways.
FIRST AID TRAINING FOR MENTAL HEALTH
It’s Mental gained viral success through this video from Amelia Curran and Roger Maunder from Upskydown Films. The wonderful journey allowed for funds to be raised so that we could send the incredible Alison Butler off the island to attend the Mental Health First Aid Certification program. Alison is now able to certify folks in Mental Health First Aid herself – a two-day course, virtually or in-person here in NL!
AND NOW? SUCCESS!
The two-month long campaign concluded with folks nominating themselves or others to receive Mental Health First Aid Training. We selected 25 thoughtful and caring folks and connected them with Alison Butler. Our communities will now become stronger as 25 more people are equipped with the tools to help support themselves and others.
We continue to seek opportunities that help to support ourselves, our communities, and our province — and all of that makes for a Cup of Cheer that runneth over, and over again.
Looking forward
–Dc.
P.S. – We’re hosting a Yogathon in support of Mental Health education here in the province! 12 yoga instructors, 12 hours, and a lifetime of impact. Learn more and register at itsmental.ca!
