Christmas is right around the corner. How better to celebrate than with a dose of festive local theatre? Spirit of Newfoundland’s Grinch, Dressing & Gravy production launched just last week at Holy Heart Theatre. Read on to get the scoop on the fun, musical adaptation of a holiday classic – with a local twist, of course!
A Spirited Bunch
Paul, Peter, Kathy, and the talented crew of Spirit of Newfoundland Productions have been contributing to the local theatre scene here in town for years. In fact, in 2018 they celebrated Spirit of Newfoundland’s 20th year in business!
Spirit of NL is a dynamic, dedicated company that’s produced and staged over 50 shows, including 11 Broadway and off-Broadway productions. Being the cultural ambassadors that they are, we’re thrilled that Dc Design House has been a part of their journey – we’ve helped them with creative on more than a few occasions to help them bring their brand of humorous, culturally-relevant entertainment to life!
A Whofoundland Twist on a Holiday Classic
Every December Spirit of NL launches their holiday Dinner and Show. This year, they remounted a big stage production of their Newfoundland adaptation on a classic Dr. Seuss tale – The Grinch – with dressing and gravy, of course!
For the past several years, the holiday favorite has premiered at the Masonic Theatre. The comedic re-imagining takes a whimsical look at some classic Newfoundland and Labrador traditions and features a soundtrack loaded with holiday favorites and new classics.
Taking it to the Big Stage
This year’s production of Grinch, Dressing, and Gravy stepped it up a notch – the production moved from the Masonic Theatre to Holy Heart and in Carbonear!
Spirit of Newfoundland worked to enhance the production – and turn it into a full, main-stage musical. Such a huge undertaking, even for some of the city’s cultural leaders! Featuring Ignite Dance company and creative designed by yours truly – we couldn’t be prouder of a company that helps us celebrate our culture as Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
We worked on creative including posters, facebook promo, and banners to help promote the holiday mainstay at its new location. Check out some of the other work we’ve done for them throughout the years below!
Here at Dc, we’re so thankful to work with clients of every kind. But clients that deliver such unique cultural experiences hold a special place in our hearts. No one celebrates our people and our place better than Spirit of Newfoundland productions – give them a call today, peep their site, and check out their shows at the historic Masonic Temple.
