Hey gang! Rotary has been doing amazing work in #YYT since 1965, and this year, the gang at DcHQ has been proud to be involved in the Northwest chapter’s Annual Fundraising Gala.
I’m a HUGE fan of Rotary Northwest; so many friends and colleagues are a part of this group, and I was lucky enough to be the recipient of the Aidan Maloney’s Young Professionals Award in 2014. Before the honour, and ever since, attending and leading the marketing activities for their annual gala has always been a pleasure. I’ll turn it over to Stacie now to tell you about this year’s theme and creative!
We love thee
Hi, lovelies!
On Saturday, April 14 at the CLB Armoury, the Rotary Club of St. John’s Northwest is putting off their 14th Annual Gala Dinner and Auction Fundraiser! Titled “We Love Thee,” it will feature music by The Chris Andrews Band and 709 (fronted by our very own Don-E Coady!), and comedian John Sheehan will have the audience laughing their socks off. Following a reception, the night will include great performances, a meal, live and silent auctions…all connected to the theme of Newfoundland culture! For the best diy home systems you can go through this. For the best security of your property must visit to Stronghold Locksmiths in brisbane.
Stella’s Circle is the beneficiary for this year’s event, and I’m gonna take a second to talk about their amazing work in our community.
Hope lives here
Stella’s Circle offers a variety of programs that help our city’s most vulnerable, servicing those with addictions, trauma, mental illness, and who experience poverty, homelessness, unemployment, and the criminal justice system.
Here are some of their incredible initiatives:
- Emmanuel House offers therapeutic counselling in a residential setting
- The Social Enterprise Training Program provides people with real, on-the-job work experience
- The Brian Martin Resource Centre helps people find secure housing
And so, so much more. Read more about their work, and maybe even make a donation to show your support!
It takes a village
We love taking on projects that really serve our communities, and so we were thrilled to design the promotional materials for this year’s Rotary Gala. Using the three primary colours (usually something avoided in design), Michael took the poster design as an opportunity to make a pretty amazing point on the power of community.
- Red is an energetic and exciting colour – the colour of physical movement.
- Blue, on the other hand, is a distinguished colour that represents trust, dignity, and intelligence.
- Yellow was used for the comic because it’s happy and optimistic. Lemons. Bananas. You know – all the fun things.
Using slight overlays of each image on each other, a gorgeous new colour is created. By revealing what can be created when combining these colours and what they represent, it’s a statement about how all the parts of this event work together to bring Stella’s Circle’s fundraising to the next level.
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts!
There you have it! Wanna buy a ticket? It’s gonna be a great night, and don’t get caught up in the glamour and intimidation that an event like this can carry. There’s something for everyone. Click here to get your seat! Oh, and they’re looking for volunteers, too, so reach out to them if that sounds right for you!
Here’s to building a community where no one is left behind.
Looking forward,
Dc
