Come inside, we don’t bite

Dc Design House can be an intimidating place. There’s ideas flying everywhere all the time; paper scattered on most surfaces; and let’s face it, in a creative industry, we’re always pushing each other to be better.

It’s a wonder our occupational health and safety committee isn’t working overtime All. The. Time. (I kid.)

But we don’t kid about this being a tough, but fun place to work. And when students come looking for a summer workterm we test their mettle.

We were so thrilled to meet with Samantha Grandy. This girl runs her own business and gave us the most interesting resume we’ve ever seen! https://www.instagram.com/p/y95O-XO08d/embed/?cr=1&v=4&wp=625&rd=http%3A%2F%2Fdcdesignhouse.ca&rp=%2Fcome-inside-we-dont-bite%2F#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A1435%7D

So we asked her to write a little about her experience here and she obliged. Check it out:

Sam’s thoughts:

Since the day I had a tour of DC Design House I knew this was an environment I wanted to work in. I am currently in the middle of day one of my workterm here at the design house. I am so thrilled to be able to have the opportunity of completing my work term with such a talented group of people.

The team is beyond friendly and welcomed me with bright smiles and handshakes. I expected to be thrown into the fast-paced flow of the agency lifestyle and that’s exactly what happened. Watching and listening to the buzz around the office already has me thinking – as a student this is an environment – I could definitely see myself working here.

My expectation from my workterm is to be able to see firsthand what it’s like to work in a fast-paced marketing agency. I hope to be able to see what it is like to work closely with clients and interact with them one-on-one. I want to be able to learn the behind-the-scenes of social media and different ways companies are promoting their businesses. I am interested to learn information beyond what they have taught me in the classroom setting. I hope to see, hands-on, exactly how companies drive business and find new clients. Above all I am eager to see how DC works together to ‘Brand Better’ for their clients to satisfy their needs beyond expectation.

I am super excited to spend my next six weeks at the Design House and thrive in this fun, creative environment!
